When Joslyn Wright attended Southern University, she was a member of the University's acclaimed "Hightower Synchronized Swimmers." She's been teaching youth swimming as a volunteer for over 40 years.
Over the course of her service she has mentored over 3000 boys and 350 girls. Affectionately known as "Mama Wright" she has become the godmother to hundreds.
She has traveled the United States with busloads of youth, planned the details of many camps, retreats and activities of the Top Gun Scout Troop, Excellence Academy Charter School, the nationally recognized "Time Travelers" and now she is a serving as an administrator of the Black Tie Guys Program, keeping records and mentoring the mothers of participants.
She is the vice-president of Tab-N-Action, Inc, the community service organization founded by the her husband and the late Dr. Lavargne Gunn-Ford. Through Tab-N-Action, even in her retirement years, continues to mentor youth as they greet her with arms wide open and make her day when the call her, "Mama Wright."
